Festival Walk

Location of the month: Festival Walk

Located in the most convenient spot of Kowloon Tong, Festival Walk, the local shopping mall, nestles comfortably among it surrounding area. Here hectic hongkongers can relax and have a nice ol' shopping trip and drink a cup of tea (I don't drink coffee) before heading home.

The quirky building catches the eye once the car drives down the hill. The irregular shape of it all and the big logo with the red ribbon.
It used to belong to Swire, but now it's some Maple thing.
Dunno, doesn't make a difference, as long as the interior is unchanged, which big company owns it doesn't matter, innit?
Car is not the only way to get there, it's Exit C from the Kowloon Tong MTR, guys. Easy as heaven. You can take the bus or mini-bus there, or if you have spare change in your pockets, a taxi. Just make sure you don't stop outside where the double yellow line is.

Festival Walk proudly presents the best shopping experience, as it boasts with its "In You. In Here." banners.
The ice rink is an added bonus.

Shops & restos I usually go to:
  • Taste (supermarket)
  • H&M, Accessorize, Marks & Spencers
  • Kiehls, The Body Shop, Watsons
  • Page One, Log-On
  • Rice Paper, SimplyLife, Armaroni
  • McDonalds, Starbucks

The skating rink is fun. If you know how to skate, that is.
The entry ticket is $55 and add on $7 for a locker. I went with my friend once and had no idea why the attendant at the counter shoved us a pack of crackers. Probably because we looked nice.
A little tip: try to go in the morning where most of the people are still half-asleep; because in the afternoon there comes a weird man with a fan who likes spinning around, and I tell 'ya, you do not want ice-skating blades hatched into your skull. Just sayin'!

Shops & restos to avoid (and the reason why):

  • Apple Store (filled to the brim with stinky-armpit men carrying suitcases, pregnant woman carrying babies over one shoulder and holding the hand of a toddler; kids running around)
  • 王家沙 (the dirtiest plates. ever. my teacup had a lipstick stain on it last time I went, which was two years ago.)
  • Hollister (it's not bad actually, just put on your gas mask and bring your flashlight before you go in. and the price tags are tiny! I wonder why.)
  • Pacific Coffee (it should be called working-on-my-macbook cafe instead, university students have taken over it like gnats. and all they order is a cup of coffee!)
Every month I post up a new recommendation for places to go to. Check this out by clicking the "Locations" button in the top bar!
